Bio

Starting my journey at the age of eleven years old, I began a new world, MUSIC.

Being told that I will "HAVE TO" learn an instrument was scary.  Thinking " o.k. how about drums?"  My parents said no way, how about an organ?  Organ????  Thinking…"well, I didn’t tell anyone so I should be safe".  But soon I awoke to the sounds of Deep Purple, Yes, and Pink Floyd… I knew I was moving in the right direction.

The first band I joined was called Arrakis.  The bassist, Gene Sandel, was a huge influence on me.  He showed me how to hear the music, feel the music and create your own music.  I can't thank him enough for all those late nights teaching me all those songs.  I also saw something else, I saw a real passion for music which rubbed off.  So, at the age of fifteen I started playing with Arrakis in local clubs.  Talk about an eye opener!  Soon we started writing our own songs.  What a great experience!

My next move was to learn piano.  I met a great piano teacher named Gladstone Trot.  This guy really knew the piano and he knew jazz in all it's forms, Fusion to Ragtime. Talk about hitting the mark!  Gladstone removed all boundaries and taught me to hear the music and to play from the heart not just from what you saw on the sheet music.  "Make it your own" he'd say.  He would push me to improvise, to play beyond what I was capable of.  It all paid off!

All through high school, I played in local bands and continued to write my own songs.

In the early 80's, I started to record and play my own music.   It was like a new beginning for me.  I recorded at my high school and got a taste of something new.

By the mid 80's two of my songs were played on the radio.  "Break in The Ice" and "Feelings Are."

Music changed in the mid 80's but deep down I knew what I wanted to do.  I wanted to play music that people of all ages could enjoy.

By the late 90's, I had an opportunity to audition for music in a movie called “Jersey Guy".  So I started a new venture.  I created "just 15" with Eric (Ace) Bennett on guitar and vocals, and Will Sorg on drums.  Frank Certo, Owner of Franken Sound was helpful and patient and willing to give his input and produce the CD.  Well, the recordings sounded great!  Check out www.jerseyguythemovie.com and enjoy.  Download the trailer and watch and listen.  Yes, the first song is "Jersey Guy" by "just 15".  Boy talk about exciting!

After that it was time to try to write what I had wanted all along.  With a dream, time and love of music was the birth of "Ageless Time".   "Ageless Time" was so much fun to create.  We knew it was going to be a challenge but it was worth the effort.

"Ageless Time" was the start of my new age music journey. I now have three CD's entitles "Ageless Time", "On Piano" and "Pa Kua Meditation". My newest CD entitled "One" will be released this Spring 2008. All my music is available for purchase onItunes or contact me through my website.

So what's next?  A new movie soundtrack, and an up coming CD!  So stay in touch.

Love,
Greg Z
